Swift Water Rescue Team Go Live Thanks To The National Lottery Community Fund

Following a successful grant application to The National Lottery Community Fund the team were in a position to order all of the necessary equipment to enable our water team to begin training. 10 team members were selected to join the swift water response team which once operational will enable us to search bodies of water and assist with flooding incidents in and around Leicestershire & Rutland.

The team will travel North in November to begin the MOD3 Swift Water Rescue Technician course assisted by Leicestershire Police and once complete our team will be fully operational. This is only one of the many capabilities LeicSAR provide to Leicestershire Police, which also includes a fully operational Drone Team, a Search Dog Team and most importantly our specialist Search Technicians.

Thanks to the support of The National Lottery Community Fund and the Community Foundation Leicestershire & Rutland, the team have been able to purchase the very latest personal protective equipment which will our volunteers to remain safe during search, rescue and recovery opperations.
