24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, we are here to help

Leicestershire Search and Rescue (LeicSAR) are one of the newest lowland search and rescue units, we are now fully operational, LeicSAR (is pronounced as Lexar).

Our primary role is to provide specialist resources to Leicestershire's emergency services to assist in the search and rescue of vulnerable and missing people in the Leicestershire area, we also provide support to neighbouring teams in other counties.

Our unit is a member of the Association of Lowland Search & Rescue (ALSAR) and we work in partnership with Leicestershire Police. We undertake searches in both urban and rural areas, in fact anywhere our specialist services are required.

We can search for missing people and are skilled at crime scene protection and casualty evacuation, search and recovery of significant objects and support at major incidents.

We will be activated at the request of the police or other emergency organisations. This will be achieved by a telephone call to our duty officer, who will in turn activate the members.
